Our Belief

All of the last 2000 years of the history of the Christian Faith as our heritage. There is much in that heritage we love and much that embarrasses and shames us. However, we acknowledge that Christianity did not begin with us; we have a common heritage with all of the Body of Christ and hasten to see the church come together in the unity of the faith. It is our conviction that what we do, our actions, ultimately reveal what we believe. Visit us some time and see for yourself who we are.

The Apostles’ Creed

We believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth. We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come again to judge the living and the dead. We believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic* church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. AMEN. *universal

*The King’s Church is a Christian body. It is part of the one, universal, Covenant Community, the Church of Jesus Christ the King.

What we believe

The Scriptures: The Bible is divinely inspired, and in its original language is the infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God, and as such, it is the sole and final authority for all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Peter 1:23-25; Hebrews 4:12)

The Godhead: The eternal Godhead has revealed Himself as one God, existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; distinguishable, yet indivisible in essence; co-eternal, co-equal and co-existent. (Matthew 28:19; Acts 5:3-4; Hebrews 1:1-8; 9:14).

The Deity and Humanity of the Lord Jesus Christ: Though equally God, for the purpose of redemption He became a man. He is the only begotten Son of the Father, conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, crucified, buried and raised from the dead, taken up into heaven, now appearing at the right hand of the Father as Intercessor and King of Kings and Lord of Lords. (Isaiah 9:6; Matthew 1:23; John 14:9; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 7:25)

Man and His Fall: Man is a created being, made in the image and likeness of God. Through the fall of Adam, the representative head of the human race, sin entered the whole human race, resulting in physical and spiritual death upon the human race. (Genesis 3:1-5; Romans 5:12-19; 3:23; 1 Corinthians 15:22)

Redemption: God provided for fallen man’s redemption through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ, who paid the ransom price of death, which God’s holiness demanded for the release of the sinner. (Romans 3:25; 1 Corinthians 6:20; Galatians 3:13; Ephesians 1:7)

Justification by Grace through Faith: God justifies the sinner by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ. This is an act of God’s free grace, whereby the sinner is absolved of guilt of his past transgressions and receives a free pardon and the forgiveness of all his sins, on the sole grounds of repentance, and faith in Christ’s substitutionary death. The righteousness of God is imputed to the sinner and he enters a new relationship of reconciliation with God. (Romans 3:24; 5:19; 8:30; Galatians 3:24; Ephesians 2:8-10)

Regeneration: The believing sinner is regenerated by the Holy Spirit, which is the imparting of the Divine nature into the heart of the believer, making him a new creation in Christ. (John 1:12-13; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 1:4-5; Titus 3:5-7; 1 Peter 1:23; 1 John 5:1)

Water Baptism by Immersion: Water baptism is an ordinance or command of the Lord Jesus Christ, which, as the repentant believer obeys, becomes a means the Holy Spirit uses to impart regenerating grace to the heart of the believer. In baptism, the repentant believer is united in Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. It is the death and burial of the “Old Man” in Adam and the resurrection of the “New Man” in Christ. Baptism, therefore, is the scriptural way in which the believer obeys the Gospel, and enters the kingdom of God. Obedience to baptism is the believer’s answer of a clear conscience before God, that he has obeyed the Gospel. The water in and of itself has no power to regenerate. Without repentance and faith baptism is meaningless. (Mark 16:15-16; Acts 2:38; 8:36-38; 10:44-48; Acts 16: 25-33; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:3-6; 1 Peter 3:18-21)

Sanctification: Sanctification is a progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration, and continuing until the consummation of salvation. (Hebrews 12:14; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Peter 3:18; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Philippians 3:12-14)

The Baptism with the Holy Spirit: The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the comprehensive initiation experience into the kingdom. The believer is baptised by the Holy Spirit into Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches that Jesus came to baptise the world with the Holy Spirit and fire. Everything Jesus did in His earthly ministry was so that He could baptise the nations with the Holy Spirit or with fire. Thus the whole world is going to be baptised by Jesus, either with the baptism of the Spirit, or the fire of judgement. After His enthronement in heaven by the Heavenly Father, the Lord Jesus was given the Holy Spirit so that He might pour the Spirit out upon all flesh. This outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the name of Jesus Christ throughout this present messianic age is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. The baptism in the Holy Spirit includes the work of the Holy Spirit in conviction, repentance from dead works, the obedience of faith in water baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit, and finding placement in the Body of Christ under anointed pastoral leadership. (Matthew 3:10-11; Acts 2:33; 37-39; 1 Corinthians 12:13)

The Gifts of the Holy Spirit: All nine of the gifts or supernatural manifestations of the Spirit as enumerated in 1 Corinthians 12-14 are to be manifested in the Church today.

The Lord’s Supper: The Lord’s Supper or Communion, or the Eucharist, is an ordinance of the Lord Jesus Christ, which, when obeyed in faith, becomes a means of grace that the Holy Spirit uses to impart to the participating believer all of the benefits of the New Covenant in Christ’s blood. It is also a memorial of Christ’s death until He comes. (Matthew 26:26; Luke 22:6-20; 1 Corinthians 10: 16-17; 11:23-29)

Divine Healing: Divine healing was provided for in the redemptive work of Christ. This physical healing is available to all who believe through appropriating faith in God’s promise.

The Holy Apostolic Church: The Holy Apostolic Church is the general assembly of the Church of Jesus Christ, the Body of Christ, consisting of all baptised believers in heaven and on the earth. It is the Lord’s Apostolic, New Covenant Community in the earth. It is the Holy Nation, the Israel of God, the New Jerusalem, the Bride of Christ. It is also Mount Zion, the City of God, and as such is the demonstration of the rule of King Jesus in the earth. The general assembly of the Church of Jesus Christ has a visible expression in each locale, as the Church of the locality or the Church of the City, where each congregation of the city is to be spiritually connected and voluntarily joined together in the communion of the Holy Spirit through locally recognised apostles and elders, as one Church of the City. The Church’s primary mission is to bring all nations under the government of God’s anointed King by making war on the kingdom of darkness, destroying demonic oppression, setting people free, and bringing entire nations under the saving rule of the Lord Jesus Christ. This mission includes the evangelization of souls, the discipleship of the nations and transformation of cultures. (Matthew 16:18; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 1:22-23; Acts 2:41-42; 1 Peter 2:9; John 15: 1,5; Galatians 6:15-16; Galatians 4:21-28; Revelation 21:2, 9-10; Hebrews 12:22-24; 1 Corinthians 1:2; 1 Thessalonians 1:1; Acts 15:6, 22; 15:22; 14:23; Matthew 10:7-8; Mark 16:14-20; Matthew 28: 18-20; Isaiah 61:4)

The Messianic Kingdom: The Messianic Kingdom, which was prophesied in the Old Testament, was proclaimed by the Lord Jesus Christ in His earthly ministry and was inaugurated at His ascension to the right hand of the Father, from whence He received the kingdom from the Father. Christ’s present reign from His throne in heaven is the fulfilment of the promise God made to King David that He would raise David’s Son, to sit on David’s throne, in a restored kingdom of David. According to Peter’s apostolic interpretation, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost was the proof that the promise made to David concerning the restoration of His kingdom was fulfilled in the resurrection, ascension, and enthronement of the Lord Jesus Christ. The purpose of Christ’s kingdom is to destroy the works of the devil, abolish all demonic rule and oppression, and bring the nations in subjection to the reign of Christ, God’s anointed King. This progressive advance of the kingdom will result in the whole earth being filled with the glory of God. The Second Coming of Christ: The Second Coming of Christ is the personal, visible and bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ, accompanied by the literal resurrection of believers to everlasting life and unbelievers to everlasting damnation as one event. This return of Christ will usher in the eternal and consummate form of the kingdom. The kingdom will be delivered up to God the Father when He abolishes all rule and all authority and power. All His enemies will have become His footstool. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death. (Acts 1:11; John 5:24-29; Revelation 20:6-15; 21:8; 1 Corinthians 15:20-28.)
